BERKELEY IN THE COMMUNITY

BERKELEY IN THE COMMUNITY

The Partnership are currently working alongside existing community groups to formalise all the amazing initiatives, activities and events across the estate in a ‘Community Plan’. The Community Plan will act as a comprehensive guide to all activities across the estate, consolidating information into a single document for both new and existing residents.

Feedback gathered through discussions and workshops, alongside insights from third party social sustainability assessments of the area, will be used to collaboratively develop the Community Plan, ensuring social value is delivered across the estate.

Woodberry Down Pavilion Project

Berkeley supported the Woodberry Down Pavilion Project, a temporary structure designed by twelve young residents to host community-led events. Commissioned by the London Borough of Hackney as part of the Woodberry Down Culture programme, with contributions from Notting Hill Genesis and Berkeley Homes.

GFS Planting

Collaborated with Girls Friendly Society to hold a planting workshop within the new Phase 3 park.

Partnered with various local school to enrich and support curriculum activities:

  • We welcomed 80 GCSE Geography students from City of London Academy Highbury Grove for a field trip to Woodberry Down. The team guided the students through the history of the regeneration and took them on a site walk to highlight how we apply environmental, economic, and social sustainability in practice.
  • Berkeley’s Sustainability Team led the Eco-Champions from Woodberry Down Primary School on a tour of Woodberry.
  • The champions were shown the many ways we integrate sustainable practices across Woodberry.
  • Year 7 Geography students from Skinners’ Academy were welcomed to Woodberry Down for a site visit to bring classroom learning to life.
